Recycled Polyester

Polyester is like the secret sauce that makes our sweatshirts sturdy, our accessories pop, and our outerwear stand strong.

Since 2018, our partners have been bringing us all about recycled polyester. Yep, it's made from old plastic bottles – the kind that usually ends up in the ocean (not cool).

Recycling polyester saves a ton of energy compared to making it from scratch. And for our outerwear, we only use GRS certified fabrics.

We'd also like you to know that those bottles could've gone to waste, but now they're helping us on making awesome hoodies and sweatshirts. Depending on the style, it takes 38 to 80 plastic bottles (the 550ml ones) to make one of your exclusive pieces.

Here's how we work the polyester magic:

  1. First, we clean and chop up the PET bottles into tiny flakes.
  2. These flakes get melted into chips and transformed into polyester staple fiber.
  3. Then, we weave that fiber into strong, breathable fabric.
  4. Our Commuter jacket, for example, is 100% recycled polyester from post-consumer PET waste.

To make it nature-friendly, we give the fabric a safe and eco-friendly water repellent treatment.

It's always good to remember that all of our fabrics are made with the help of Stanley/Stella outerwear, an multiple-times certified company that works to ensure your journey on the eco-fashion experience as the best as possible.

CHEMICALS

We're all about keeping things clean and safe – for both people and the planet. We're not messing around with chemicals.

At our production sites, we stick to the highest standards, like GOTS and Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®. That OEKO-TEX® label is like the gold standard for textiles – it checks everything from threads to buttons for harmful stuff. It's basically the "safe for humans" stamp of approval.

Independent OEKO-TEX® partners test our products for all sorts of substances that can be harmful to human health. And guess what? Our products often go beyond what the law requires, so you know they're super safe.

Fair Wear

Fair Wear: Committed to Ethical Practices

When a brand displays the Fair Wear seal, it signifies their dedication to upholding human rights, with a specific focus on implementing the Fair Wear code within their supply chain.

Fair Wear members are driven by a shared goal: to enhance the working conditions of the individuals who craft our clothing. Membership is open to garment companies across fashion, workwear, outdoor wear, and promotional textiles, provided they endorse the Fair Wear Code of Labor Practices and conduct due diligence in the realm of human rights.

The Fair Wear Code of Labor Practices

  • Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining (ILO C87 and 98; ILO C135 and 143)
  • No forced labor (ILO C29 and 105)
  • No child labor (ILO C182 and 138)
  • No discrimination in employment (ILO C100 and 111)
  • Legally binding employment relationships
  • Safe and healthy working conditions (ILO C155)
  • No excessive working hours (ILO C1)
  • Payment of a living wage (ILO C26 and 131)

Fair Wear's Brand Performance Check serves as a valuable tool for assessing and reporting the actions of member companies within Fair Wear. These checks scrutinize how the member company management systems' align with Fair Wear's Code of Labor Practices, particularly within the segments of the supply chain where clothing is assembled. This phase typically represents the most labor-intensive part of garment supply chains and is where brands can exert the most influence over working conditions.

In many apparel supply chains, clothing brands do not own the production facilities, and these facilities often work for multiple brands. That's why is important to follow procedures to ensure that the whole chain follows fair principles.

Remarkably, the actions of a single concerned customer at a product location can yield substantial positive impacts on various issues, such as health and safety conditions and the freedom of association. If one customer at a product location demonstrates the possibility of improvements, it sets a precedent for other customers to follow suit. Developing and sharing such best practices has long been a core aspect of Fair Wear's mission.

PETA-Approved Vegan

Whenever you think about vegan standards, you should think about the importance of the Mission at PETA.
PETA, known as the largest animal rights organization worldwide, boasts a global family of over 9 million members and supporters.

The privilege of having PETA Approved on your garment signifies that your choice of product has met certain standards set by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, ensuring it's cruelty-free and doesn't involve animal-derived materials.

Consider the core philosophy at PETA standing against speciesism: a belief that elevates humans above all other creatures. We dedicate our efforts to four key areas where animals:

Endure prolonged and intense suffering: within research laboratories, across the food industry, in the world of fashion, and within the entertainment sector.

Additionally, we champion various other causes, such as combatting the inhumane treatment of animals like rodents, birds, and those labeled as 'pests,' as well as advocating for the welfare of domesticated animals.

PETA operates through a multifaceted approach that includes public education, in-depth investigative journalism, research initiatives, animal rescues, advocacy for legislation, organizing special events, involving celebrities, and orchestrating protest campaigns.

Our common mission - as brands involved on the fashion industry - is to keep our politics to push as much effort as we possibly can towards the Paris Agreement 2015, in order to cooperate with Eco-Guidelines to assure you the cleanest experience, with less Carbon emictions and less environmental harm possible.

It's our bond to respect the world that we live on!

Why Trust OEKO-TEX®?

When a textile product proudly bears the STANDARD 100 label from OEKO-TEX®, you can rest assured that every single part of that item, right down to the threads, buttons, and other accessories, has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it poses no harm to human health.

These tests are meticulously conducted by independent OEKO-TEX® partner institutes, guided by our comprehensive OEKO-TEX® criteria catalog. All testing covers a wide range of substances, both regulated and non-regulated, that could potentially be harmful to people. In fact, OEKO-TEX® limit values often surpass national and international standards. Their criteria catalog gets updated regularly, at least once a year, incorporating the latest scientific insights and legal requirements. GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

Our Commitment
When you see the GOTS logo on a product, it's your guarantee of its organic origin and responsible processing, both environmentally and socially. GOTS covers the entire organic supply chain, from farming to manufacturing and trade, giving end consumers confidence in their choices. GOTS' certification is carried out independently by third-party authorities, making it a trusted risk management tool for buyers. GOTS prioritize the health, safety, and rights of employees, emphasizing ethical business practices. Sustainability is at the core of what they do; It's also provided to certified entities access to the GOTS Monitor to track water and energy consumption, focusing on environmental management and wastewater treatment. Only low-impact GOTS Approved Chemical Inputs, free from harmful substances, are permitted. Accessories undergo rigorous testing for any residues of hazardous substances. GOTS-certified goods also meet technical quality parameters like colorfastness and shrinkage.
Their certification extends to various products, from garments to personal hygiene items and even food contact textiles. We ensure compliance with all GOTS standard criteria through thorough inspection methods.

This standard sets requirements across the supply chain for ecological and labor conditions in textile and apparel manufacturing using organically produced raw materials.

Organic farming, which replenishes soil fertility without toxic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, is at its core.

The standard also includes animal welfare standards and prohibits genetically modified organisms. The use of GOTS aims is to establish universally recognized requirements, ensuring the organic status of textiles from raw fiber harvesting to environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing, up to labeling, providing credible assurance to consumers. This simplifies exporting organic fabrics and garments with a single accepted certification in major markets.

OCS (Organic Content Standard)

The Organic Content Standard (OCS)

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is an international, voluntary standard that offers traceability verification from certified organic farms to the final product. Independent third-party certification bodies conduct annual audits to certify individual sites. The OCS aims to boost organic agriculture production through three key objectives:

  • Verify the organic content of purchased products.
  • Provide a trusted tool for companies to communicate organic content claims.
  • Offer organic farmers global access to the organic market.

Only material from certified organic farms, complying with IFOAM's Family of Standards, is accepted.

 GRS (Global Recycled Standard)

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS)

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is a comprehensive international standard, voluntarily adopted, that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions. GRS seeks to increase the use of recycled materials while reducing or eliminating harm caused by their production. GRS has several objectives:

  • Align definitions across different applications.
  • Trace and verify recycled input materials.
  • Empower customers, including brands and consumers, to make informed decisions.
  • Minimize harmful impacts of production on people and the environment.
  • Ensure that materials in the final product are genuinely recycled and processed sustainably.
  • Drive innovation to address quality issues in using recycled materials.

The GRS applies to products containing at least 20% recycled material and mandates certification at every production stage, from recycling to the final business-to-business transaction. Material Collection and Material Concentration sites self-declare, provide documentation, and undergo on-site visits.

Our mission is to accelerate sustainable practices in the textile industry by substantiating claims with strong understanding and third-party certification, ensuring real and meaningful change.
